Emily Schmitz

My name is Emily Schmitz and I am thrilled to be teaching 4th grade at Kenton this year! In December 2015, I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Elementary Education and content focus in mathematics. I then began teaching in Madison as a K-3 English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher where I ensured that all Outside of the classroom, you will find me at a coffee shop reading a good book, traveling to a new place, and going to see my favorite musicians in concert. I also like to be very active—running, hiking and playing team sports. Since I am originally from Wisconsin, I am a devoted Wisconsin Badger and Green Bay Packer fan—and will continue to cheer them on from Colorado! I am really looking forward to meeting all of my students and their families as well as getting to know my fellow Kenton staff members. It’s going to be a great year! My job is to accelerate the learning for every APS student, every day. I do my job by creating a welcoming, student-centered community where students feel engaged, challenged and successful because I am making intentional, reflective decisions to best meet their needs.  My community needs me to do my job.
