Bronco at Kenton

Bruton spoke to students about reading over the summer and the importance of literacy. His new charity foundation, Bruton's Books, will focus on improving reading proficiency for students from kindergarten through third grade. The foundation is partnering with Colorado Reading Corps and School Partners to help schools in low-income areas of Denver. Together the organizations will provide tutoring opportunities and reading supplies.

 Kenton Elementary 2014-2015 School Goals

  • We will plan effective and rigorous standards based lessons and monitor the learning around those standards through our COP’s.
  • We will provide opportunities for students to write every day across all content areas.
  • We will develop comprehensive understandings of all components of reading, including how to teach and assess students’ needs of these components in order to provide precise instruction that targets individual students’ gaps.

Kenton's Vision

All Kenton students will make a yearly minimum of one year’s growth in language, reading, writing, and math. In addition, all Kenton students who have been in APS since 1st grade will leave 5th grade on grade level in literacy and math.

At Kenton we work so that all students can achieve success and can say confidently,

  • "I am valued and feel valued."
  • "I set high social and academic standards to acquire the skills I need."
  • "I take pride in who I am and show respect for others."
  • "I make positive contributions to the Kenton Community."
  • "I build a vision for all I can be and what I can do."

"It takes a village ... to raise a child."
